Microsoft is officially announcing the launch of Office 2007 and Windows Vista for Business today.
Windows Vista is finally released after a long development cycle.
There are great many features in Windows Vista and comes with a calendar, photo gallery , DVD Maker and Better Games. Also there are numerous features in windows vista. You may refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Vista or http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista.
There are many criticisms for having taken this long to develop and also copying many features from Apple OS X.
I am using RC2 build Windows Vista as my primary operating system which i got through customer preview program. I find that it is very good and when comparting to pervious builds almost all the softwares seem to work on RC2. The reason for choosing windows rather than other OS is the ecosystem. Many softwares that i want to use is available for windows platform. Also i need not buy proprietory hardware (like OS X).
The software compatiblity list is available here http://www.iexbeta.com/wiki/index.php/Windows_Vista_Software_Compatibility_List where you can just consider this as reference before you can install. There is a tool available from microsoft to test whether your hardware is capable of supporting windows vista, windows Vista upgrade Adviser is availabe here.
If you are a new PC buyer it is good news for you. You can get the system that right away supports Windows Vista. But if your are already having a system and which is quiet old then it is bad news for you.
When you take Windows XP for instance i feel that the operating system is very stable and operating system itself do not have features that specifically supports for your graphical hardware. In otherwords even if you have a latest graphics card you may be able find diffference in Games, 3D rendering softwares but for common practice you may not use the GPU (Graphical Processing Unit) power. In windows Vista the aero graphics is supported only if you have a Graphics card that supports DirectX 9 and Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel. So if you have a system that already has that then it is good news for you. You can just install and experience the Aero Graphics in your system.
But if you do not a PC with graphics card support or it is a laptop with no external graphics adapter inside then you cannot fully experience the Aero Effect. Though you may fully utilize the power of windows vista security and other features.
If you do not have Aero graphics supported you cannot see FLIP, Flip3D, Live Thumbnails, Glass Translucent Windows (Which i like the most).
It is recommended that you have alleast 1 GB of RAM.
Since the hardware requirement is quiet high it is very difficult for business customers to change to windows vista immediately unless they spend money to upgrade the system which eventually will not be the case.
So if it is a new system buy i would recommend you to buy with windows vista or windows vista upgrade coupon.
The next major release is the Microsoft Office 2007.
This absolutely superb. I am also using Office 2007 Beta 2 Technical Refresh through Customer Preview Program.
This includes totally new redesigned user interface.. For the past years since Microsoft Word 6 (Office 6) (early from the days of Windows 3.11 for Workgroups) i have been using Microsoft Office and i have been seeing the button toolbar until now (since i started using office 2007) . Microsoft's Office developer team developed a new User Interface (UI) which is really fantastic. At first when i started using office 2007 i found it very difficult as i was very much used with File, Edit , Tools menu etc. I am well versed with all those commands and shortcuts and thus for me it was bit annoying to use the new interface. But as the time goes by, the UI is laid out in such a way that it is context based like "What you want to do ?" So it becomes very easy to use.
If you take Microsoft Excel 2007 and Microsoft Power Point 2007, you are going to see lots of superb features. You can create images with stunning professional look. You can create superb organisation diagram. 3D graphics made simple. You can add/customize effects on your text, shapes and you can adjust Bevel, Emboss, Shadow, Highlight, Glow etc. Earlier i used to go to photoshop to create nice looking buttons. Now there is no such need. Simply superb and excellent.
You can download trial versions from http://www.microsoft.com/office.
I would recommend upgrade to office 2007 or buy new office 2007 at once.
