The New Windows Live....

Now it is almost six months after the release of Windows Vista. Windows Vista is very good and is very stable. It still requires some improvements which we can expect in updates and service packs. Many third party software's are also updated to support windows vista and now is becoming full main stream.

Apart from Microsoft OS, there lot of services which also got released during these months. They are

1. Windows Live Messenger

2. Windows Live Writer - Beta 2

3. Windows Live Mail (Client Version Previously - Windows Live Mail Desktop)

4. Windows Live Hotmail (Previously known as Windows Live Mail)

5. Windows Live One care - (Complete anti virus suite)

6. Windows Live Spaces (updated)

7. Windows Desktop Search 3.01

8. And Of course Windows Live Search.

Still there are rumors of Windows Live Folder, which is yet to surface. Windows Live Messenger 8.5 is in Beta.

Of all these services the must have ones are a Windows Live hotmail account and Windows Live Mail (Desktop). If you are regular blogger then Windows Live Writer.

Windows Live hotmail is a update to previous hotmail. It gives the look and feel of Microsoft outlook in web. You may drag and drop, right click on emails, quick view them. It has 2 GB storage limit.

There is drawback, it is a little bit slow and works well only if you have a broadband internet connection.

I always like to compose mails offline and send them later or if i need to send attachments just attach and send from my computer instead of attaching on webmail and sending. Many of Webmail do support HTML but cannot embed images. So using client is very useful.

When you want to get mails on the client you must have POP enabled on web mails. GMail supports POP and it is free. But Hotmail if you need POP you may got to pay for it. But on the other hand if Windows Live Mail (Desktop) is used you can get it for free. Not only that if you do any changes to on windows live mail (desktop) it will be updated online as well. If you delete email it will deleted on the web as well. If you move to folder it will be updated. So it is a perfect sync between your web client and desktop client.

This is splash screen before it signs on.. for the first time you require an online connection to setup email. Recommended to use along with windows live messenger.

Previously when this was in beta there were ad's supported. Now it totally ad free and clean and wonderful. It has a search toolbar where you can easily search your emails. You may add other POP accounts as well. It is an enhanced outlook express. It is as good as Microsoft Outlook. You can also edit contacts. View and Read Feeds. According to me this one is a must have.

In early betas there is one drawback in Windows Live Mail (Desktop), it eats up lot of memory which is being fixed in this version. Also when minimized it can run in background utilizing very little RAM.
